Kick it!
I won’t say anything was rigged, but I do think the NFL sent a message to Sean McVay about not spilling the beans when they admit they blanked up a call (See Josh Wallace).
Matthew Stafford didn’t have a great day; none of the Rams outside of Kyren Williams did, but no one was as bad as the refs…Unless the refs wanted to be bad—Something to think about.
Three reasons the Rams won in Philly yesterday:
1—Konata Mumphield winning the jump ball on the batted pass that would have been Matthew Stafford’s third interception of the day.
2—Nick Sirianni, if he had just taken the field goal the Rams still may have rallied, and may have led 24-23…but needing only a field goal on his team’s last possession would have made things a lot less daunting for his offense.
3—Jalen Hurts is extremely limited as a passer. I understand him not running—everyone is getting hurt and the team can’t afford to lose him. I understand he has almost nothing to work with. And we should all understand that Tom Brady nailed it early in the game when he said Hurts is unable to consistently make the anticipatory throw.
What I read from “Rams fans” on social media during commercials yesterday:
McVay should be fired.
Matthew Stafford is washed up. (Crying for the warning track greatness of Jared Goff)
Harrison Mevis should be replaced by Jake Moody (perhaps the funniest).
Rookie TE Max Klare is a bust.
Chris Shula should be fired.
It was like being in a time machine because these were the Rams fans I grew up with, when the team won seven straight division titles, and complained Chuck Knox wasn’t flashy enough.
The technology is new, but the DNA remains the same.
Kyren Williams had a fumble a few weeks ago…and everyone wanted him gone. Now he’s their dawg, their guy, their boy, and want to build him a statue.
The weeks and games come and go but the DNA remains the same for fickle Rams fans.
A low ceiling in Milwaukee is my argument for getting rid of domed parks in baseball.
I was so happy the Dodgers lost last night, but I’d much rather see them lose to the Padres.
I find myself rooting for the Milwaukee Brewers. Ben Oglivie lives!
Last Add Rams: Everything said about the Rams applies to the Los Angeles Chargers. The Bolts are lost. I enjoyed the late-night rumor that Jim Harbaugh is going to resign and take the USC job when the blade eventually falls on Lincoln Riley.
Note to Caitlin Clark: You’ve made enough money to walk away and live a peaceful life. You don’t need the persistent drama because, outside a very, very, very small group of players—who haven’t made enough money yet to walk away—no one is going to have your back. There are other things in life; enjoy them and let the miserable in the WNBA wallow in their misery.
Last Add Clark: Retire, don’t retire, your choice, as was the bad choice of showing up on ESPN’s Game Day so soon after your team got bounced from the playoffs. Not a good look…unless you retire.
Speaking of USC…has anyone else likened Luke Wafle to Aiden Hutchinson?
We are now being told that Indianapolis Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon, who was again on the sidelines in London taking notes during her team’s game with the Washington TaxSkins, has actually been doing this for a decade.
A decade? Meaning she’s been at every game and has had more access than anyone to the team, but she still needs to grandstand on the sidelines during?
If she really wants to learn, someone should direct her to the film room she pays for. Short of padding up, the best way to learn football is endless film.
…#122—May the San Francisco Giants rot and lie stinking in the earth…
The Dude abides…
