Notes On A Thursday Night Scorecard: Seattle at Denver

Notes On A Thursday Night Scorecard: Seattle at Denver

—The throwback uniforms work for both teams—especially the silver on the Seattle lids.

—Malibu Kelly Hayes—has anyone ever seen a picture of him? I’ll assume he’s real.

—The Broncos are longing for the days of Rick Upchurch.

—The second drive by the Broncos looked like a get-well drive.
The Denver touchdown…16 plays, 74 yards, capped by a JK Dobbins touchdown, and my thought was: all was right in Mile High.

—Seattle’s Cooper Kupp had four catches in the first half, and he finished with five for 50 yards. He only had 6 grabs coming into the game.

—Give me the suspense of the chain gang.

—I understand the Seahawks running back room is depleted…but the reality is the offensive line is not elite.

—There’s a difference between having Matthew Stafford and Bo Nix…but Sean Payton—renowned for his play-calling—got more than a little conservative in the second half and nearly cost his team the game.

—If Bo Nix is the guy, then let him be the guy. If he’s not, move off him now and go get somebody else. Denver won’t go anywhere with him in 2026 if this remains the status quo.

—Sam Darnold picked off with 1:25 to play…because he doesn’t have a running game?

—Darnold is not a great quarterback. He’s good…but his best quality is grit.

—Darnold picked again in overtime. Denver wins on Will Lutz’s field goal.

—Darnold doesn’t have a running game? The Seahawks rushed for 113 yards on 26 carries and one touchdown on Thursday night.

–Denver was only 3-of-14 on third down.

–Darnold was sacked 5 times.
