Kick it!
So if the fate of the world were being decided tonight, would you watch it or click on Prime and watch the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns tonight?
In Las Vegas, Nevada, tonight you’ve got the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces playing the deciding game of their WNBA playoff series.
You’ve got Caitlin Clark versus A’ja Wilson…White versus Black…You’ve got the cultural direction of an entire league at stake…and The Fate of The World.
You’ll probably have more hitting at Michelob ULTRA Arena tonight (at Mandalay Bay) between the Aces and Fever than you will with the Steelers and Browns.
The NFL is going to throw flags, the WNBA is going to swallow the whistle.
Outcome? Aces by ten, and Clark, by the middle of the fourth quarter, will be out of the game via injury, ejection, or fouling out.
WNBA is not ready to break the chains of welfare and will insist on the status quo.
And with all that…and even with the NFL broadcasting on Prime tonight…people will put the Fate of The World on the back burner tonight to see if Aaron Rodgers has anything left and if the Deshaun Watson comeback story still has legs.
With three offensive linemen banged up, and two already ruled out, I’m taking the Steelers front seven tonight in Cleveland.
For the Aces-Fever, $96 will get you in the arena.
For the Steelers-Browns, $252 will get you a seat at Huntington Bank Field…but the zip code for that seat will read Edgewater, Ohio.
I like the Los Angeles Rams this week against the Philadelphia Eagles. I do think they left Mile High on Sunday Night angry, and have become even angrier since the NFL issued the “oops!” on the Josh Wallace pass interference call.
I have to believe the Eagles came out of Monday night confused…A really good, but not really great, running back in Saquon Barkley, an aging offensive line, a diminished receiver room…and a defense that is doing nothing but steal money.
Jalen Hurts is not a good enough quarterback to overcome all that.
Last Add Steelers: They actually traded CB Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys rather than paying him…Which is a real shift, the Steelers always sign their defenders to expensive contracts.
Good move by Pittsburgh, and the weakest argument of the day is coming from those saying that this proves the Cowboys never should have traded Micah Parsons.
The trading of Parsons allowed flexibility to bring in more talent…but talent still needs an experienced DC…And the Cowboys do not have the next hot young coach coordinating for them.
Back in the late 1980s, I got a chance to interview former MLB infielder Woody English—he even bought me breakfast. We talked about his career and how he was with the Chicago Cubs in 1932, and there when Babe Ruth called his shot, on this date, off pitcher Charlie Root.
When asked, English smiled, got a little agitated, and said to me, “That big SOB wasn’t calling his shot. He was pointing to center field and asking the refs how he was supposed to hit with all those white shirts. And then when the reporters asked him if he pointed, he played it up.”
…#120—May the San Francisco Giants rot and lie stinking in the earth…
The Dude abides…
