Kick it!
For the first time since the Lakers’ last competitive season with Kobe Bryant, I was anxious to see a season opener.
I discovered the Snowtime Lakers are fun, the Golden State Warriors are deader than high-speed rail in California, and that while Yaxel Lendeborg has an NCAA title…he should cool down on trash talking any NBA veteran let alone one capable of lighting him up like Luka Doncic.
It was fun watching Luka push all of his buttons.
It was also a lot of fun watching Milk Chamberlain.
I love all the “high-roaders” taking shots at Ty Lue and the Clippers for saying they wanted to beat the Sacramento Kings for (the suspended) Mr. Ballmer.
In terms of corruption, Steve Ballmer was easy fruit for the NBA to pull to send a message…and something they would never follow through on with the Lakers, Celtics, or Knicks.
But the Clippers? Yeah, sure, why not.
It’s the whole Jerry Tarkanian line of, “The NCAA was so mad at UCLA they put UNLV on probation.”
The NFL has declared it safe for the Steelers-Saints to play in Paris this week…but this morning, news broke that the Steelers canceled a fan event because of security concerns.
With all the struggles, with all the hells, with all the lifeboats rapidly filling up…the Rams remain a favorite against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
Nine points and two bad penalty calls—that’s the difference between the Rams being 5-1 rather than 2-4.
If someone spotted you 750 bucks to go to the Patriots-Bears game tonight, would you go?
Personally, I’d rather take the bread and buy a tank of gas.
Actually, I’d rather take the money, drive to Arizona, fill my tank, and pocket the remaining 600.
Okay, I’m going to say it because nobody else will…Does LaMelo Ball come across as socially backward to anybody but me?
And while everybody has a right to ink to their heart’s desire, doesn’t his effort to become the Illustrated Man come across as a cry for help?
Call me judgey for this…because I am being judgey…and we should be more judgey in our culture…but…
I can wrap my head around a couple of tats…but with as many as Ball has, isn’t any intended message lost in ink-noise?
(And I do know that 41% of all Americans between 18-29 have at least one tattoo.)
I don’t think tats are evil, and I suppose they can convey a message, although I often wonder when somebody gets “Family” in Chinese imprinted on their arm or back…if it really says, “Family.”
Maybe it says, “Stupid white guy thinks this says ‘family.'”
My opposition begins with the fear of conformity. What’s unique about looking or following everyone else? In today’s culture, the tattoo is no longer the road less traveled…but a form of glorious conformity.
CBS is really going to go with J.J. Watt as its lead football analyst?… Have you heard J.J. Watt…? I assumed they would wait until Troy Aikman entered the free agent market.
The Brew is True—I’m taking Milwaukee in the World Series, and Sixto Lezcano will be named MVP. (Check out Sixto’s career OBP)
#130—May the San Francisco Giants rot and lie stinking in the earth…
Last Note Luka: If the 50-foot buzzer beater he launched at the end of the first last night had happened in Milwaukee…the ball would have hit the roof.
The Dude abides…
